One of things I say to couples contemplating ending their marriages is, "Divorce isn't all it's cracked up to be." In my "Fresh Start for the Suddenly Single" workshops I add that "Divorce usually takes one struggling household and turns it into two very poor ones.
Our current mortgage and credit crunch is turning into a bonanza for divorce attorneys. I find that very sad. It's long been known that money problems are a leading cause of marital breakdown, and it's only magnified when the going gets really tough. I discuss the subject pretty openly and directly in "IOU NO MORE". There are some excellent tips in there, if I do say so myself. And it's a whole lot cheaper than an attorney. I'm not saying that a $10 book will save your marriage, but it might get you talking again, and not just screaming. If talking leads you to a Pastor or good marriage counselor instead of divorce court, then I consider that a big win.
